Types of Man Lifts
Scissor man lifts are made to vertically lift personnel to higher places. They are commonly seen in the construction industry in order to transport or lift workers form one place to another. Man lifts are power-driven and offer special handholds and steps or platforms to provide safe transport. The kind of construction work being performed would decide exactly what kind of man lift would be utilized in a project.
Electrically Insulated Man Lifts
Based on Man and Material Lift Engineering, the man lift most preferred for working near electrocution hazards are electrically insulated man lifts. The electrically insulated man lifts provide protection to personnel against accidental electrocution. These type of equipment are in compliance with the American National Standards Institute A92.2 Category C, 46kV Rated. These electrically insulated man lifts offer fiberglass insulated booms, are operated on nonconductive hydraulic hoses that serve to reduce ground error and fiber optic control cables.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are a special kind of aerial man lift which is meant to transport personnel vertically to hard-to-reach areas. The scissor lift derived its name due to the scissor type of design of the folding supports which could raise and lower the platform. To be able to raise the lift, every one of the folding supports is opened in order to extend the platform to higher heights.
The scissor lift will either be powered hydraulically or manually. The hydraulic powered system does not rely on power, however enables the scissor lifts to descend with only a release of hydraulic pressure. Since the potential of mechanical malfunctions preventing the platform from suddenly descending to the ground is eliminated, hydraulic systems make safer scissor lifts at the end of the day.
Capacity
The man lift has a large range of weight capacities, with certain man lifts capable of holding lots of individuals, while some models could only hold a single individual. Scissor lifts and platform lifts are more conducive for transporting lots of people, because boom lifts have less space located in their bucket.
