In the majority of work environments, they would be entitled to two short coffee breaks and a half-hour lunch break during the day. It is very important that the forklift driver not be prone to reckless driving or rage of any sort.

Training
Forklift training is usually done on the job. Training would normally include control and safety training, that can be completed in a variety of ways. These may include lectures, testing and videos. A performance test will also be conducted on the forklift. After the tests have been completed successfully, a license could be issued. This license must be renewed according to provincial and state laws and according to shop procedures. If you get the chance to finish your lift truck training on the job, it is a great idea and it is one more skill you can add to your resume.

Job Locations
In bigger establishments like retail or manufacturing facilities, forklift operators may work in a warehouse department. Lift truck operators may also work in other fields, depending on the businesses requirements. Forklifts are extremely versatile pieces of equipment that can be found on construction sites and logging sites in addition to in most train yards, shipping and receiving facilities and ports.
