Negative Effects of Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are a kind of "mobile scaffolding", with a wheel-mounted equipment that provides power to a work platform which moves up and down. The lift could be powered by electricity, propane, gas or diesel. Scissor lifts are characterized by a variety of scissor-like joints that raise the equipment by collapsing and expanding. Numerous safety features are built into scissor lifts these days, specially models which are newer. Like with any safety features, they may not be able to guarantee safety and several features could be manually overridden by operators or they can sometimes malfunction.

Inadvertent Elevation
Usually, construction workers use scissor lifts to work on higher aspects of the jobsites or on ceilings. The workers will need to raise the platforms just to right beneath ceiling level. The problem with accidental elevation can take place if the workers bump into the elevation controls inadvertently while working. In the ceiling scenario, the controls could be accidentally activated and the platform can rise up and accidentally crush them into the ceiling.

Electrocution
Employees need to be very cautious, making certain they are fully aware of their environment. This would ensure they don't accidentally electrocute themselves. If, for instance, the operator makes direct contact with or inadvertently touches an electrical conductor or an induction field, tragic outcome can occur.

Lateral Loads
It is vital to know the loading restrictions when utilizing the scissor lift. These restrictions will be labelled in the scissor lift guidebook. Mis-loading the platform can result in extremely serious consequences. A lateral-load is among the possible problems that could happen if the whole lift overturns. This situation occurs when a heavy tool or material such as a concrete slab that hangs over the scissor lift platform's side, causing the entire machine to become unbalanced immediately and greatly susceptible to dangerously tipping over.
