Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to pile up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck comes in several types: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is frequently used. This particular version consists of telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet needs to go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This version is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Within most warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and can increase production while maximizing available storage space.
