Seat Belts for Counterbalances
A forklift, also known as a counterbalance, lifts loads as heavy as 30,000 lbs. Despite being sturdy and big, these industrial machinery still carry the potential risk of accident or crash. To be able to be very safe, be sure to have operators wear an appropriate seat belt in the forklift and check that up to standard safety features are on board. People know that in the event of an accident, seat belts can save lives.
Three-Point Seat Belt
The types of seat belts that can extend both across the upper body and over the lap are the three-point seat belts. These belts provide an extra safety degree by protecting your body. They are available in both bucket-seat and bench-seat types. The 3-point seat belts are offered in either retractable and non-retractable types.
Most modern vehicles available provide retractable seat belts. Though non-retractable types increase safety, retractable types offer a lot more comfort. It is impossible for a non-retractable seat belt to accidentally extend.
Lap belts
Two-point lap belts are those that extend over the lower portion of the body. Most lap belts are non-retractable and feature a push-button closure system. In order to secure the seat belt, simply press on the belt button and the two sides will separate.
Circuit-closed seat belt
The circuit-closed seat belts are the type that force forklift operators to put on a seat belt. These seat belts have a micro-switch attached that sounds an alarm if an operator starts a vehicle and is unsecured by a seat belt. The circuit-closed seat belts are made in both retractable and non-retractable lap-band types.
