Use a Pneumatic Forklift
Pneumatic forklifts are common in shipping and warehouse operations. Also called pump trucks or pallet trucks, they are used in order to transport materials and things around on wooden pallets using metal forks which are mounted on a wheeled counterweight. The counterweight includes a pump which raises the forks off the ground. A pallet truck is designed to be operated by a single person.
Pallet trucks must be operated with care to avoid loss of control while lifting heavy loads. Equipment should be checked before operating. Clear the wheels area of any obstacle. Make certain that the handle turns smoothly. The pallet should be stacked carefully to ensure that nothing will fall off during transportation.
On the end of the pallet truck's handle, squeeze the level located on the inside of the metal loop to release the air in the pump and lower the forks. The forks can then be pushed into the slots of the pallet. The forks must be at the center in order to guarantee equal distribution of the pallet's weight across them. Lift the forks from the ground by pumping the handle of the pneumatic lift until the pallet has fully cleared the ground. Do not raise the pallet very high or the forklift could unbalance.
Pull on the handle and then drag it behind you if you want to move the pallet. It is not safe to push the pallet in front of you since the thrust can cause it to go out of control. Slowly take turns and don't attempt to stop suddenly. Slowly stop, squeeze the lever, and the forks will lower to the ground. Finally, remove the forks from the pallet by pulling them out. Return the pallet truck to its permanent place.
