Forklift Tire Specs
Ever since 1917, important tools utilized within commercial businesses and industry are forklifts. During its history the forklift has changed through various forms, from a tractor with a platform attachment to a specialized high-tech equipment. Forklift tires have also changed into specialized tires, with different types designed to meet particular functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is made of rubber or solid polyurethane and is suitable for indoor work on smooth surfaces. The cushion tire tread is bonded or pressed onto the tire's steel ring. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for various load capacities. Cushion tires are usually utilized in warehouse atmosphere.
Pneumatic Tires
Air or foam is used to fill pneumatic forklift tires. They are offered in two types: radial or bias. Depending upon the application, they come with different sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires that are filled with foam are less susceptible to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are normally utilized outdoors on rough, uneven surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
Solid Pneumatic Hybrid tires combine the puncture resistance of a solid tire with the comfortable ride of a pneumatic tire. They are a great alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Used on wheel loader forklifts are large rubber tires which can either be solid, pneumatic or foam. These types of tires are best for loading and transporting heavy items into processing equipment or onto trucks. Large flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts commonly used at auto recyclers, lumberyards and construction sites.
