In 1966, Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries. During that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that functioned on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" which was used to raise and lower the hoist. This device greatly impressed clients and hence, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, because the demand for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, when the requirements for new machinery to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself recognized in many new markets. For instance, Genie went into manufacturing light towers, man-lifts, articulated booms, telehandlers and stick booms.
Due to the economic recession during the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who held the same values. They partnered up with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers throughout the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the initial years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie machines continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their customers. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices which have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machines.
The Bi-Energy and DC machines provided by Genie offers quiet operation, emission-free even in the most delicate work settings. Where the machine must be driven significant distances, like in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC machinery along with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
As opposed to any of the different types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach overall. These equipment are ideal for limited access areas in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These machinery deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you need in order to travel around the work site and job area.
