Used Clark Counterbalance Forklifts Surprise

The forklift is a material handling device utilized to lift and transport loads from one location to another. Each part of a forklift has a specific function. Various components can be utilized to transport the load either vertically or horizontally.

Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the components which lower and lift the load. There are different types of masts for raising loads to different heights: triplex, quad, simplex and duplex.

Power Supply
Forklifts have four different ways of being powered: gas, electric, diesel and propane. The battery is situated inside the cab underneath the seat. The propane tank is located on the back of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is underneath the back of the truck.

Cab
The forklift cab is situated in the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The gas pedal, steering wheel, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all located within the cab.

Frame
The frame of the truck carries all the largest components of the forklift, like the counterweights, which are located at the rear in order to stop the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the axles, wheels and driveshaft.
